The area
The Costa de Almeria is located in the South East of Spain, tucked away between the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. Generally, the area has yet to be discovered by the tourist industry and is consequently still rural and typically Andalucian. Almeria is an area steeped in Andalucian tradition, with the historic villages of Mojacar, Turre, Los Gallardos and Garrucha all within easy reach.
There are several supermarkets and shops. A short walk along the promenade brings you to the fishing village and Marina of Garrucha. Dinning outA new promenade leads from the apartments into Garrucha which passes by a play area for young children, and out towards Mojacar beach. Garrucha is very family orientated with no nightclubs, but many child friendly restaurants, an ideal location to sample one of the many famous fresh fish restaurants along the Marina, whilst watching the local fisherman and boats come in with their daily catch. For keen golfers there are three golf courses in the area, the first on the mountain, which is a nine-hole golf course in Cortijo Grande. Two new courses in the area: Desert Springs Golf Club 6179 metres, Par 72, this is the first desert golf course in Europe, and is built to the standard of the famous desert course in Arizona. Also Marina de la Torre 5700 metres, Par 72, positioned opposite the beach in Mojacar’s this course attracts golfers looking for that new challenge. Split into two distinct nine holes on either side of the hill, overlooking the beach and sea.
Travelling aboutAlthough car hire is not necessary, should you wish to explore the beauty of the mountain villages in the area a car is advisable.
